Just like NASA's space program, auto racing programs foster inventions and discoveries that eventually trickle down to the public to make our lives better or easier in some capacity. The video below is from the eye of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , a racing driver piloting a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! race program, and was taken during a practice session before the 24 Hours of Daytona race.

What I wanted to share with everybody is the technology in race cars these days…specifically the in dash display to the right. It IDs course traffic and informs the driver of overtakes by other racers, which side of the vehicle the overtake is happening, etc. Technology such as this is very useful stuff. Yes, this is a racing application but think of the possibilities. The technology is there and some of this stuff is bound to trickle down in to production street cars. You're looking at the future.

Thinking out loud here a bit, but would it be possible to analyize competitor's laps against yours to show where you have an advantage for passing purposes? Say I'm consistently diving deeper into T8 and you're braking early there. I come up behind you and can't seem to get past, then my computer tells me I have an advantage in T8, and to dive up the inside.

On the flip side, if I'm the car in front, I then know the guy behind me is gonna try to dive up the inside in T8, so I can be extra defensive there. It would add an extra level of science to the sport, while removing some of the art from it.

Curious why it signaled that the P2 car was overtaking on the right but did not give the same indication when the P1 car overtook seconds later. Guess P1's have radar jammers.

Measures and Counter-measures, I like it.
